Antique Union Furniture Company Red Chinoiserie Secretary
Very rare antique piece! Made by the Union Furniture company, likely between 1915-1930. Beautifully crafted piece which was made to represent earlier 18th and 19th century Queen Anne style chinoiserie secretaries which were extremely popular at the time. Hand crafted and painted, this is truly is a one of a kind piece of history!
History:
The Union Furniture Company was founded on February 15, 1876 (reorganized in 1894) by Pehr A. Peterson, John Erlander, Jonas Peters, John G. Parson, and James Sundquist in Rockford, Illinois. Its industry was library and dining room furniture and its headquarters remained in Rockford, Illinois. It was purchased by David V. Neilson in April 1927. The company ceased operations by 1933. The company was entirely owned and operated by Swedish settlers.
